NO FEAR

Fighting. Riots. Rumors of Wars. The devil is saying, “Be afraid. Be very afraid,” but Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. Read how to have no fear in the end times.

It seems like every time you turn on the news, there’s a new riot, a new march, a new attack against an innocent person. If you were hooked up to an EKG, you could probably watch your heart rate increase and fluctuate faster than the Dow’s volatility, or the seismic activity in the South Pacific. But what can you do? Tune into the last 2-minutes of David Muir for that one feel-good moment? Nope, we have something better. Jesus said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me and I shall give them rest,” and you can rest in God with these steps.

Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly

When Jesus said that we would hear about wars, He wanted the disciples to know that because of His life, death, and resurrection, He already overcame the grave and the world. That means you can’t go by what you see because if you read the end of the Bible, the Book of Revelations clearly states that Christ wins in the end. Spoiler alert! But that’s good news, so while it might be hard to visualize this life as one big book that’s already been written, that’s exactly what we’re going through. Now how does that play out in real life if you’re afraid to go outside or worried about your family? Here’s what you can do…

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers us from them all

For starters, pray. It’s a simple thing, and you hear it all the time, but here’s the key scripture that can help: “The effective, fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much.” That means when you get on your knees, just pray, “God, please help me and my family to not be afraid and please cover us and keep us safe, in Jesus name, amen.” It’s a simple prayer, but what it does is it lets God know you want HIM to act on your behalf. That’s why the scripture reads, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you,” meaning ask God first for covering, help, and guidance and let Him lead.

So, you’re either wondering what happens next or you’re thinking that you’ve already prayed and nothing’s happened. You have to trust God and give Him time. God prepares a table for us, meaning, while it might look like the enemy is winning or that we’re all going to war and the apocalypse is 2-minutes away, you don’t need to worry about that when you submit to God. Here’s how.

No Fear Verse.jpg

No harm shall come near my dwelling place and no evil shall befall us

It starts with a few simple steps. Confess your sins to God and say the Prayer of Salvation. If you’ve already done this, great. Rededicate your life to Christ and confess any sins you’ve committed. We all sin whether we know it or not and you want to have a clean slate and a clean heart. You also want to stand on God’s Word through Jesus Christ. As a Christian, you can trust God’s Word to cover and keep you and know that while bad things might happen in the world, God will protect you, so have no fear of man or the wrath of man.

The Prayer of Salvation

If you haven’t said the Prayer of Salvation, now’s the perfect time and you can confess your sins to God. Jesus died for our sins, so we can pray directly to the Father at any time in Jesus’s name and God will hear us and forgive our sins. Here’s the prayer:

Father God in the name of Jesus, Lord, I ask forgiveness of all my sins. I did —- and I ask forgiveness for all these sins in Jesus’s name.  I turn my back on sin and I make you my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart. I want to follow you for the rest of my life and I want your covering for me and my family. Please give me eternal life through Jesus Christ, in Jesus name, amen. (Make sure you have your family members pray this, too).

Re-dedication to Christ Prayer

If you need to rededicate your life to Christ because you feel like you’ve been sinning, or haven’t been living right, pray: Father God in the name of Jesus, I ask forgiveness of my sins and I turn my back on sin. Please help me to overcome —- and I want to lead a better life through you. I decree and declare this day I have overcome —- and I have the victory in Jesus name, amen.

Stay in God’s shadow, stay away from sin and temptation, keep reading your Bible and keep seeking God first.

So what’s next?

Do you remember hearing the story of David and Goliath? It’s a famous story because David used a stone to take down a mighty giant. How? Through faith. But the story about David and the sling shot is not the part we want to cover. There’s a story behind the story and it has to do with Saul and his armies. They couldn’t defeat Goliath for 40-days because they were afraid of Goliath and that’s why these next steps are important. The devil will try to make you afraid and have you filled with fear, but we don’t have anything to fear because Christ has already overcome the world. That doesn’t mean that wars won’t take place or that there won’t be riots and fighting, but it does mean that you can trust God to supply all your needs, cover, and keep you.

Perfect love casts out all fear

With Saul’s armies, they stood in front of Goliath for 40-days straight and as soon as Goliath saw that they were afraid on day 1, he started taunting them and continued to taunt them, for well, 39 more days. So Saul and his army let fear get inside of them – you guessed it, by what they saw and what they heard. Joel Osteen gives a great example. He said once that you can look at it like being on a boat in the water. The boat can ride on the water, but the goal is to not let the water get in the boat. That means you can get through this life knowing you have a savior, i.e, Jesus, who works with God, the head honcho and big boss who knows all things and sees all things. You are covered and you can trust God. David knew this and that’s why he was able to slay Goliath because he walked boldly out onto the field and David said what he knew God could do – deliver Goliath into his hands. Whatever you see on the news, just turn it off and say, “I am more than a conqueror.” “I will not fear the arrow that flies by night nor the terror by day.” God is always with us, covering us and keeping us.

Joel Osteen gives a great example about this. He said to look at it like being on a boat in the water. The boat can ride on the water, but the goal is to not let the water get in the boat. That means you can get through this life knowing you have a Savior, i.e, King Jesus, who works with God, the head honcho and big boss who knows all things and sees all things. You are covered and you can trust God so your boat can ride on the water safely – just like Peter walking on water to Jesus. Just don’t look down!

When David showed up, he wasn’t infected by Goliath’s size or his slanderous words. David knew that God helped him to slay a bear and a big lion and David was strong in the Lord. That’s why he was able to slay Goliath because he walked boldly out onto the field and David said what he knew God could do – deliver Goliath into his hands and you guessed it: David slings rock + rock hits giant = giant goes boom!

Whatever you see on the news, just turn it off and say, “I am more than a conqueror.” “I will not fear the arrow that flies by night nor the terror by day.” God is always with us, covering us and keeping us.

The only reason the devil wants you to be afraid and run in fear is because then he wins. That’s why the scripture reads, “My children suffer for lack of knowledge.” When you know that God will cover you, keep you and sustain you, then you can stand firm and you won’t fear man or the wrath of man. You’re able to walk in love, love your neighbors, love your enemies and you can trust God. So the next time you see the news, pray for your neighbors, pray for your family, community, our nation, and our planet. Then turn the news off and remember to trust God and continue to pray.

Just remember that you’re seeing is what Jesus talked about it and He overcame the world. It will be revealed soon and is just a matter of time. Trust God! Continue to repent your sins, pray for and with your family and don’t follow the crowds. Stay under God’s covering and trust God. Have faith. God supplies all our needs. There’s a scripture that reads, “I’ve never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread,” and that’s a good thing! God keeps His promises and Jesus is coming back for His people! Praise the Lord!
