Have Faith in God...
There was a recent episode of American Ninja Warrior. The young man who competed had an interesting story. He was diagnosed as recently having a brain aneurysm and as he prepared for immediate surgery to fix this life threatening condition, he prayed with his family. When doctor's examined him further, they said four life-changing words, "You have no aneurysm." He competed on American Ninja Warrior and made it to through the competition successfully despite having relatively no time to practice because of the medical emergency.
Despite what it looks like, despite what you hear, despite the medical report or the bill in front of you, have faith. God is on the throne.
Why you can't believe the report and you should believe God and trust Him
My boss was so angry once, he threatened to crucify me and fire me. Not sure which he thought would take place first, but he was that angry. I didn't know why. I had just started working for him and all I knew was that someone else didn't bring him a report. But he took it out on me. Now this was really God setting me up to see God work on my behalf, but I just didn't know it yet.
I was on the train going into work and my boss screamed over the phone, "Don't come in or I'll fire you!" He then hung up the phone and that's when the Holy Spirit said, "Go into the office." I thought I was hearing things. I was still shaking, but I listened and asked God to confirm that this is really, truly what He wanted me to do because I really, truly didn't want to go on David Muir that night while David asked, "Millions are watching. Tell us, why didn't you just stay home?"
Arriving at the building, I prayed again and as I reached for the door, I saw another co-worker. She said good morning and asked how I was. I told her what happened and she nodded, smiled and said, "Come with me. I have his report." I let out a huge sigh and followed her into the building, still in shock as I slowly put the pieces together.
Apparently the report my boss wanted, this lady had - all along, and God knew, but I didn't. And it now dawned on me that God was doing this. Doing something new that was way beyond my control. ***NOTE: When it's something so big you can't control it and have no idea what's going on, it might be God.***
When we reached the reception area, the Holy Spirit said, "Go with her first. Don't go to your desk." It was then that I understood. God had set this up to deliver me. Taking the report from this woman, I went to my side of the office and handed it slowly to my boss like one would slowly hand an overcooked piece of food to Gordon Ramsey. My boss merely said, "Hi. That's what I needed. Thank you," and walked away with his report. I stood there with my mouth open, waiting to be called a "Donkey" or waiting to hear about my pending crucifixion. It never happened. I knew it was God.
Sometimes, when God is doing a new thing, or showing you a new direction, He will show you who He is. There is nobody greater than Our God! No one can outdo Our Father God. He is the Almighty and just like that Ninja Warrior with the doctors shaking their heads and saying "Well it was there a second ago," or my co-workers placing bets at their desks, "She won't even make it out of the elevator." "Call security and get David Muir on the line," we have to let go of the fear - and the flesh, in order to let God show up and sometimes show out!
But what does God say?
No matter what you are going through, it's not a matter of what you hear or what you see in the flesh, it's only a matter of "But what does God say?" He has the final say. He has the final say. I put that in there twice for emphasis because nothing happens without His knowing or His approval. Whatever it is, consult with God:
- Negative doctor's report? Jesus says by His stripes we are healed.
- Yelling and demanding boss? God said to not fear the wrath of man.
- Fear of severe debts and feeling under water? God is our source. He supplies all our needs and Jesus lets us walk on water.
We're entering a stage and a season where we have to go boldy to the throne of grace and exercise the rights we have as Children of the Most High God. Hold God to His word. If you get that bad report, say, "Unh, unh. Lord, I don't receive this. You said all I have to do is ask, seek and knock and that you would supply all my needs." Wait and see what God says and rest in Him. Be confident in God! There are no accidents or mistakes He doesn't know about.
Whose report do you believe? Believe God every time! God says, "Trust me," and "Don't fear the wrath of man," and that's exactly what we are to do.
