Motivating Men: Men Play Hard...

Focus on the Goal and Have Confidence in Your Swing When Contrary Winds Blow Your Way. The Holy Spirit is saying, "It will get better"...

I spoke to a manager just briefly about having confidence in God. He tried to relate it to his golf swing, saying that if he died today he hoped he played his best game, so to speak. I told him I understood, as we want to give our best and keep our focus. He then mentioned his golf game and I gave him a brief analogy how serving God is like perfecting your swing. Contrary winds will come, obstacles on the course, etc., but as long as you perfect your swing/stance, i.e. you're grounded confidently in God, you can make the necessary adjustments.

In this life, know that winds will blow. The world is going through transition and chaos. People are attacking each other and warring in the flesh because we're in the last days and the devil WANTS people offended. Don't fall for his games. When you retaliate, you block block your blessings. When you speak words in cursing, hate, or unforgiveness back to the person, you can sabotage your blessings and cause a tormenting spirit to come to you. That's why Jesus wants us to walk in love, healing, and forgiveness. The attitudes, the hate, the negativity. None of that matters. Rebuke satan and don't play his games.. Stand still, hold your peace and God will fight for you and make the way. The enemies you see today you won't see anymore. Your steps are ordered by the Lord and you can focus on the goal, follow through, and finish strong.

We pray, "Lord, please align my purpose with your will. Program my mind so I can focus on forward. Help me stand firm on your Word despite the obstacles or what it looks like. Give me your strength and encouragement and help me finish strong, in Jesus's name, amen."

Finding Time for the Things You Enjoy

With busy work schedules and so many responsibilities, it can be hard to find time for fun things like golf, football, soccer, baseball or other sports you enjoy. Here are a few pointers to help you get a little more time in and be able to share in the fun with your kids:

  • Keep your sports gear in your car or truck. That way if you get out of work early you can get a little R&R.
  • If you're out of town on business, find a nearby driving range, gym, or park. It's a great way to escape the hotel, conferences, and meetings.
  • When you're out enjoying your favorite activity, take a little time to stop and talk to Father God. Reflect on Him, praise Him for all He's doing in your life, and let Him know what you need.
  • If you have your kids with you, take a few minutes to ask about their day and set aside time to hear from them. Then pray over their requests. Even if you don't have a lot of time to spend with your kids, it's the quality, not the quantity. Let them see and hear you pray so they can learn to follow your example. If you're unsure how to do this or where to begin, watch the movie Courageous about empowering men as strong leaders.
  • Take fun time out for video games, a visit to Dave n' Busters, a bike rental ride in the park, or lunch in the park with your kids this summer.
  • Plan an impromptu trip with your kids to go fishing. Pack a few sandwiches and snacks and enjoy the time together.
However you spend your time with your kids and time enjoying your favorite activities, do everything unto the Lord. God will always make the way for you and your Heavenly Father loves you so much - Stay encouraged. The best is yet to come!
