New Year and Lost Your Cheer?

We all want to feel good in the New Year, but what do you do if you've gone through your biggest test and it's left you feeling wiped out? Check out these pointers, tips, and resources to help you get back on track. The devil is defeated and God is with us always. Don't let an attack right after New Year's throw you off. A big blessing is coming if you hold on and have faith!

It happens to everyone. Scenario #1: You're at home or at a party watching the ball drop and you're so excited about the New Year's Eve countdown. You say in unison, "3, 2, 1..." and then you fall flat. It happens. It's not that it's not a New Year, but in all that you went through last year, while you tried to put it behind you, it's still there.

Scenario #2: You're counting down the clock and you bring in the New Year and then wham! You get hit with bad news. Someone calls to tell you that a close friend or family member is sick and in the hospital or has died. You may also find that someone you relied on and trusted has let you down - intentionally.  Talk about letting the air out of your tires fast! What is going on?

Check out Part 1 of Dr. Freda Crews talking with Recording Artist Ricardo Sanchez about getting through the toughest times in life. God doesn't allow pain to hurt you. You are coming out stronger and better...

What Just Happened?

Remember, many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers us from them all. Some of the biggest blessings will come in the New Year, but they may be preempted by tests and obstacles from out of left field. That's okay. You can maneuver past them by:

  1. standing firm on God's Word,
  2. staying centered in your spirit, and
  3. using an effective ministry tool or resource to get through and get you back on track.

Continue to Mirror Christ's Love and Not the Circumstance, i.e., Pain, Hurt, Anger

Before we go into the three steps above, it's so vitally important - can't stress this enough, to stay in the spirit. The devil may try to get you to give up, lash out in anger, grow so bitter you speak mean words, or give up and commit suicide. If there's anything you ever remember, let it be this: This may be the biggest test of your life, right? That means the biggest blessing is right around the corner and the devil doesn't want you getting there, hence, the attack.

I've seen it personally. A friend's daughter is in the hospital. My mom's friend just lost her husband, another friend lost someone on New Year's Day. I suffered one of the biggest personal attacks I've ever gone through. All this occurred right at the new year, which means, hold on. Not that it's going to get worse, but that better is coming. Your blessing is coming. So let's look at the maneuvering that can help because we all need it right now.

Standing Firm on God's Word

Bill Winston, Joyce Meyer, T.D. Jakes and Joel Osteen preach all the time about the scripture, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." What looks like a situation that you can't get out of is really just a test. It's meant for you to speak God's Word to change the circumstance. You can speak over a negative doctor's report and decree that you are healed. You can restore your finances by declaring God's favor in your life. Sometimes the tests are so you can exercise the Word and watch God work on your behalf to bring healing and restoration - and He will. How? Choose a scripture that will help:

  • God supplies all my needs.
  • I've never seen the righteous forsaken, nor His seed begging bread.
  • The Lord will not let my foot slip.

Remember, the adversary is already defeated and this is just a test as the devil wants to take the wind out of your sails now so you'll continue through the year like this. Nope. We're not having that. That's why you have to stand firm - right now! Your atmosphere is about to change for the better. Your prescription: Pick the scripture, hold onto it, repeat it several times a day, even when you don't feel it or don't think you need it, continue speaking it.

Staying Centered in Your Spirit

Say this, "Something good is about to happen to me." Do you feel it? No? Okay, maybe not at first, but I want you to get excited because the more you say it and speak it, the more good things will come to pass. Your atmosphere is changing. Remember, the test comes so you will change from being positive, loving, kind and faithful. Just like that cheerleader who cheers when the team is losing. You have to speak what you want. The cheerleader doesn't yell, "Aww, that's okay, go back to JV." They scream, "We've got the spirit, yes we do. We've got the spirit, how about you?" Keep your spirit up and stay centered:

  • Put on Joel Osteen or the messages by Dr. Freda Krews that we've included.
  • Put on a comedy special so you can laugh, because laughter makes the heart merry.
  • Put on Joyce Meyer or TD Jakes for an inspiring word and reminder of how much God loves you.

Keep your spirit up. Just like the scripture, Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers us from them all." You will be delivered. That's God's promise, so don't lose your cheer!

Using Effective Ministry Tools and Resources to Get Through and Get You Back on Track

If you ever wonder, 'Why is this happening to me?" remember, the enemy comes to rob, steal, and destroy. Tests and trials will come - but as you stay focused, you will overcome them all. You are more than a conqueror. Remember, God won't put more on you than you can bear, and while that "bear" might seem like a vicious attack at the time, or pain too great to bear, you will get through with effective ministry tools and resources.

We've included the second part of Dr. Freda Crews' message here. Maybe you didn't hear the story about Ricardo Sanchez or his testimony. He's an award-winning Christian artist who got a phone call one day that his son fell and broke his neck. That's why this message is so important as he tells personally with clinical psychologist Dr. Freda Crews, what to do when you are tempted to lose hope or fall into a depression.

Ultimately, whatever the test or trial is that you're going through, we're keeping you in prayer for deliverance. Continue to stay in the spirit, have faith, walk in love and know you will get through this. If you find that you need help, you can contact Bill Winston's Prayer Line at (877) 543-9443. You can also reach out to your local church for counseling or do an online search for support groups in your area. There are free groups that can help especially if you're dealing with pain that feels like it's too great to bear on your own.

Lastly, continue to read your Bible and pray for renewing of your mind. Don't let the devil infiltrate your thoughts, so keep your Bible verses handy to help you get through. Dr. Robert Schuller used to say, "Tough times never last, but tough people do." You will get through. Please know that you are not alone and the Body of Christ is praying for you!
