Tis the season to bless the Lord! But, how can you praise God when you're feeling weary? It's simple. Use the example of the woman at the well.
When the woman at the well came upon Jesus (no coincident with God), she was weary. She had a life that was unfulfilled and she wanted a love that would last. Jesus knew it. That's why He said, "Give me a drink." Jesus needed the woman to give her worship to Him so He could pour out His peace and love on her.
Singing ushers God in, for it is written, "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord." Here are a few great songs to raise the praise.
As you go through the songs (in English and Spanish), listen for the messages the singers share:
Jesus heals us and cleanses us from our past so we can start new. Cast your burdens on Him and lift every voice to bless God.
The Holy Spirit has been saying, "Keep singing to me." Let your praises go up like sweet alms to God. He's been so good to us!
Listen to how Tasha Cobbs is singing, "Fill me up, God. Fill me up, God." At this time of year, people are weary and they're so tired. But the Word says, "I look to the hills. My help comes from the Lord." Keep your eyes focused on Jesus. Let Him fill you up.
What's so great about Jesus? Call on Him and demons have to flee. Call on Him and declare the victory. Call on Him and scales fall from the eyes. Call on Him and people realize. We serve the Most High God. Call on Him! He will not fail us!
Do you thirst for a drink from the well? Jesus is calling. Listen to the lyrics from Elevation Worship in this live version of O Come to the Altar. It's okay to come to Jesus, to lay your burdens upon Him. He makes us new creations and old things are past away. Old sins are forgiven. You are a new child and a new creation in Christ.
New wine has to go into new wine skins. When you're tired and weary, you can come to the Lord and cast your cares on Him. Meaning, you can give your weariness over and receive healing, receive increase, and receive help from the Lord.
Hear Hillsong singing about the wonderful name of Jesus Christ. He tore the veil so we can have all we need. Nothing compares to Jesus...
In Un Corazon's live version of Jesucristo Basta, one of the lyrics says, "Hoy nos acercamos sin temor. El es el agua que beber nunca mas tendremos sed jesucristo basta. This translates to "Today, we approach without fear. He (Jesus) is the water to drink. We will never thirst. Jesus Christ is enough.
Like Jesus told the woman at the well, "He who drinks this water will never thirst." Thank you, Lord for being our wellspring of living water. Thank you for manna that doesn't run out.
Full of doubt or self-defeat? Let God increase your confidence in Him. Hear Marvin Sapp's lyrics that include, "I overcame because you said, 'Yes, you can.' I'm no longer doubting myself because you said, 'Yes you can.'"
This video is so touching. The group, Spirit of Worship is signing the words to How Great is Our God, but when they started, there was a problem with the lighting. Instead of stopping, the young sister in the center kept going until they fixed the lights.
How often do we have to literally "keep going in the dark" until we see God's light. Powerful reminder. God is so good! Lift every voice through signing and singing!
Something we don't always realize when we turn to Christ is we are no longer under the law. Meaning, we are not slaves to this world, we are children of the Most High God. Watch Jonathan David and Melissa Helser's song "No Longer Slaves". You are a child of God, not a slave to fear.
Jesus overcame the world and you don't have to live in fear because Jesus makes the way for us. He supplies our needs. He opens our doors. He answers prayers. He heals hearts. You are no longer a slave to fear, or sexual addiction, or alcoholism, or other sins. Jesus spread the sea so we could walk right through. He drowned our fears like He drowned Pharaoh's army. You are a child of God! You are victorious!
Jotta A has a wonderful song Muestrame Tu Gloria about seeing God's glory and worshiping Him. But, sometimes we're so weary we don't realize God is about to deliver us or that He has something for us. God will move mountains for you.
Pastor TD Jakes once said about the woman in the well that Jesus was strategic. He said "Woman, give me to drink," knowing she didn't have water but was there to draw water. She had been trying to draw the same water that kept leaving her empty. He asked her if she wanted "that which is eternal".
Jesus always puts a demand on us for something we don't have so we'll turn to Him and seek out what He has and what only He can provide. The woman at the well tried to rationalize. Jesus was saying, just because you're at the well, doesn't mean it will satisfy you or your thirst. The enemy makes it look like a solution, but it's not what it looks like. Stand still and see the salvation of God.
What Jesus requires from us is "Yes". Saying yes to God's will means we are trusting in Him to lead us. Trust God to make the way for you. When you've done it on your own and it hasn't worked, we have a savior who knows the way. Let God lead.
Are you feeling tired or ashamed? Is someone reminding you about past mistakes? That's the enemy. The devil wants you living in the past and in fear. It's shackles and chains of fear, worry, failure, and pain. But, Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly.
Redeemed's lyrics include "Stop fighting a fight, it's already been won." You're not your past and your history is not your destiny. God has something greater for you and it starts with knowing Jesus.
What an amazing God we serve and nothing can compare to Him. Generation 12 with Marcos Barrientos has a wonderful song Dios Imcomparabe about how this is no comparison to our God.
Like the woman at the well was looking to be fulfilled, only Jesus has what we need. Only He can heal hearts and break old habits. Only He can fulfill us and fill us up. Glory to your name, Lord!
Christian Life Center has a beautiful version of Way Maker in Spanish. Jesus is the way. And, He knows what we need. That's why the woman at the well was so weary and hurting. She wasn't being filled up the right way. She had 7 husbands and still felt empty. But, Jesus is our overflow.
When you say no to the "old well" or the old way, and wait on what God has for you, your latter days shall be greater than the former. Jesus was saying to the woman, "Aren't you tired of doing the same old stuff and getting the same old results? Don't you want what God has for you so you can get out of that same old way of doing things? Don't you want a God who can give you a breakthrough?"
Turn to God the Way Maker and let Him show you how He provides. And, when God provides, you are covered, you won't lack, and you won't look back. Old things are passed away!
Tu is a beautiful song by Dariann Gonzalez. All we need is you, Lord. All we need is a touch from you. A visit from you, Lord. Show us your glory. Fill us up, Lord. Heal our hurting hearts, forgive our sins. Show us who you are and what you have for us. Glory to your name, Lord! You are the Way Maker and we are no longer slaves. We are your sons and daughters and heirs to your throne! Let us bow down and worship our precious Lord Jesus!
