Stay Humble Before God...

Instant delivery, instant entertainment and information. The world is trying to put everything at your fingertips... almost like... you're a god. But, the Word says "be anxious for nothing" and "wait on God". It also says, "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." It's a trick of the enemy to make you think you can have whatever you want, whenever you want - instantly and that God isn't moving fast enough. And, that's a mistake.

Same Day Delivery: No Patience Required

Instant delivery. Gotta love it. You can order something and get a knock on your door a couple of hours later. Boom! Your package is right there - and the mail carrier isn't even out of breath. Deliveries are so fast, we barely have time to process if we need to add to the order. And, similar to deliveries is instant entertainment.

Watch What You Want When You Want

Watch any movie you want for as long as you want. Stay home and be entertained all weekend. There's no curfew. No one's saying you have to go to church. Stream movies all weekend if you want. Or, hop on YouTube and watch any video you want. Missed a movie? You can find it anywhere online. Want to hear a song? Poof! There it is! And, what's happening in the background is very concerning.

Are We Serving God or Letting Demons Try to Turn Us into Idols and False Gods?

Because we have so much instant access to everything, businesses now want us to "feel like a god", like we have everything at our fingertips. But, if you look at Biblical times, that is not God. That goes completely against fasting and praying and waiting on God. And, therein lies the problem.

If My Children...

If you think about humility before God, you might think of the scripture, "Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord and He shall lift you up," or a similar passage about staying humble and then God will exalt you. But, God gives specific instructions on humility in the Bible. In 2 Chronicles 7:14 it states, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

You see. We have four parts that we're instructed to do:

  • Humble ourselves.
  • Pray.
  • Seek God's face.
  • Turn from our wicked ways.

The problem is we're not praying and fasting enough. And, this is what Jesus pointed out to the disciples when He asked them to pray before He was led to the cross. He said, "Pray that you don't fall into temptation." And, then, well, the disciples fell asleep. Was that the temptation? They didn't leave and go get into some kind of sin. They were right there where Jesus left them and they fell asleep. But, what's key is that they fell asleep when they were instructed to pray. When God commands us to do a thing, let's be mindful to stay alert and be obedient. Let's not let the flesh or stubborn pride dictate our lives. Stay tuned for part 2 of this article next month.

Whatever God is about to do in this season, the Holy Spirit said to tell you, "Don't look back." We are a new creation and old things are passed away. For God to use us, we need to keep moving forward in Him. Focus on forward and don't look back.
