Women's Health

Cardio? Check. Ab-Rolls? Mmmph, I could go for a roll right now - buttered, cinnamon, doesn't matter. Workouts? When there's time and there's never enough time, but okay, check! As women, life is hard enough, but trying to have time to balance life, work, home, kids, and church can be tough. Your doctor is shaking his or her head at your physical exam results and for what? Because your pressure is still up? Well, it's no wonder.  Look at all that is on your plate. You can literally eat the salad and still be so hungry you want to eat the plate, too! So you have a piece of fruit and exercise and you actually gain more weight. You drink more water, but the bloating is like seeing inflatable tires around your waistline, and we won't even go into your "new" pants-size. Surely they're making these clothes in Europe. On Children. But maybe it's not anything that you're doing wrong...

The body is a temple, but try finding healthy fares during your lunch hour and you may find that the reason the doctor is shaking their head at you is not your fault, but what the stores are selling you. You could be on a budget and everything in your budget that's "cheap" is loaded with sugar and salt and the bloating won't quit. Or, you could spend what you want on food, but you have so much stress that you're eating the whole bag of single-portion chips. Why package 3-chips in a bag if one serving is actually 4 or 5 bags? Hmm? Your hair is shedding and your stylist keeps cutting more and more off, you're gaining weight every month, you skin can be too oily, too dry, or both. Yeah, you've got a list. It's definitely not you, it's them...

In a Harvard study about women and aging, it was noted that women on average will gain about 5.7-lbs to 6-lbs. every year. Every year. To avoid this, it's recommended that women work out for 60-minutes a day, but who can find the time? The top 3 causes of death for women are heart disease, cancer, and stroke. It's no wonder. Women are under so much stress because they have to do everything, but while we know that, your blood pressure still needs to be addressed because strokes can kill. Heart disease can be hereditary but it can also come from too much stress, or too much heart-ache, literally.

In our 3-month Health Expo, we're exploring Healthy Eating, Cross Training Fitness, Work/Life Balance, From Hair to Eternity: Women's Health Topics, Spirituality, Relationships, and Stress-Less. These are 7 core areas that women may struggle with from time-to-time and by balancing them with small changes and a few new ideas, you can get back on track.

So let's begin... Oh, we're doing this!

Okay, we get it. Your friends were treating to lunch. You went to that restaurant with the big menu and ordered a sensible meal, salad, apps, drinks, dessert, and then the entree! Your blood sugar spiked and so did your blood pressure. Then your colon started doing flips and you were in the bathroom for 6-hours with a can of Febreze and a half dead smartphone battery. Should you call 911 now or try to get in an episode of Master Chef?

What happened? It was probably hidden salt and sugar and the ingredients may not have been appropriate for your body. But wait, there's more...

You get to work and the stress is through the roof. All your bosses are screaming, "Well, find a way!" "I wanted it yesterday!" "Get 'er done!" And that's when the migraine starts and that weird vein in your neck starts pulsating. Maybe you should go home early?
